"Skoy" The Paper Towel Alternative

This past holiday weekend I was introduced to "Skoy" the paper towel alternative. I try my best to use dishtowels and rags in my home to clean but do admit to some "recycled" paper towel use. I was excited to try the cleaning cloths, especially after reading on the companies website that 2.5 million tons of paper towels hit our landfills each year.

After a hearty breakfast I used my "Skoy" to clean the kitchen. You are instructed to dampen the product first and then clean as usual. I used my favorite non-toxic cleaning product and was amazed at how easy it was to clean the cooktop, counters and kitchen sink. As it was cleaning day for me I also used another "Skoy" for the bathrooms and was very happy with the results.

When I went on the companies website I also found out that the "Skoy" is biodegradable. You can wash your "Skoy" in your dishwasher or washer. What I really loved was the fact that you can wet the used cloth and put it in your microwave (now I have a use for this thing) for 1-2 minutes and the process kills all the germs. The website does stress that the "Skoy" must be wet if you microwave it or it could catch fire. The microwave disinfecting was a plus for me as I probably wash my dishtowels way too much thinking of the germs being spread around, problem solved use a "Skoy"!

The "Skoy" factory, located in Europe uses renewable raw materials such as cellulose (derived from wood), and cotton. Their factory has invested heavily in developing and implementing an integrated environmental recycling and disposal facility. Their operations-related environmental policy has resulted in the "Skoy" factory becoming a reference company throughout that industry.

After using the "SKOY" you can see how a sponge is inadequate and a germ collector and that this product replaces the need for sponges and the excessive use of paper towels! A package of 4 is $6.99 and you can also subscribe to their subscription plan of 8 "Skoys" sent to you on a periodic bases. "Skoy" will definitely become a regular in my nest!

Tell us why you would like to try "Skoy" or why you already do. The Awarenest will send a free 4 pack to the best comment on this blog. For more information about "Skoy" visit their website or ask for them at your local "green" store. skoycloth.com.
