The Essentials of Essex County

Essex county is the second largest in NJ by population with about 800,000 residents. The county is a transportation hub as it includes Newark International Airport as well as the Port of Newark and Newark Penn Station. The City of Newark is one of four Urban Enterprise zones in Essex which also include East Orange, Orange, and Irvington. Essex County has the first County Parks System organized in the US, and despite it's urban feel and proximity to New York City has an impressive array of green spaces and outdoor enjoyment areas. Check out our resources section for more information about Essex's green gems.
