Lorraine Gibbons, Founder of Garden State Urban Farms (GSUF) works with non profit organizations, schools and government groups to provide affordable locally grown produce, employment opportunities and educational programming in the urban areas throughout New Jersey. A member of Shaping NJ - The State Partnership for Nutrition, Physical Activity and Obesity, the NJ Farm to School Network and the Growing Minds Nutrition Task Force, Lorraine continues to be a catalyst for healthful living in urban NJ.
The Arthur & Friends Urban Greenhouse and Training Center in Orange NJ is GSUF's current project. In collaboration with HANDS, Prodigal Sons & Daughters Re-Entry Services and NORWESCAP GSUF will be operating a hydroponic greenhouse in the heart of the Valley Arts District. Modeled from Arthur's pilot program in Sussex County, the Orange greenhouse will offer employment training and fresh produce year round. The greenhouse is under construction; visit GSUF early June and enjoy locally grown greens for your next meal.
